To set Data Execution Prevention (DEP) to it’s default setting:


  •     Click the Start button.
  •     Right click on Computer / My Computer.
  •     Windows XP users can ignore this step. On the left, click on Advanced System Settings.
  •     In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
  •     Click the Settings button in the Performance section.
  •     Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  •     Click on “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only” if it isn’t on there already.
  •     Click OK.
  •     Restart the computer.
